The North Sea ... Wadden Sea ... picturesque old town: Husum is definitely worth visiting.

Husum, which is the birthplace of the poet Theodor Storm, has a great deal to offer: the downtown area with its market square, castle, and castle park, where millions of crocuses blossom in springtime; plus lovely shops and restaurants that are a sheer pleasure to patronise.

Husum is also known as the gate to the North Sea islands and the Hallig isles. The national park known as Nationalpark Schleswig-Holsteinisches Wattenmeer with its magnificent North Sea islands and the Hallig isles, begins at Husum’s picturesque harbour, whose Hafenmeile (harbour promenade) is a great place for a lovely stroll and is worth a visit regardless of the season, or the tidal conditions – and even when the North Sea breeze is blowing briskly.

Nordfriesland, Wadden Sea, the North Sea islands and the Hallig isles – a unique experience

The environs of Husum also offer a host of activities: a hike on the mudflats with an expert who offers a host of fascinating information concerning the flora and fauna of Nationalpark Wattenmeer; excursions to the North Sea islands and the Hallig isles; discovery tours along the West coast. Or explore the wonders of Nordfriesland, including Sylt, Föhr, St. Peter-Ording, Friedrichstadt, Tönning, Eiderstedt and Westerhever lighthouse.
